Imagine the passion of La Traviata, the melodies of Rigoletto and the wit of Falstaff all distilled to an intoxicating essence, and you’ll get some idea of Verdi’s one and only string quartet. Or better still, just come and hear it played by four CBSO musicians who simply love it to bits. Puccini’s haunting Chrysanthemums raises the curtain in suitably operatic style.
